Alan McGee to hold Q&A at screening of Oasis movie Supersonic in The Coliseum

The man who signed Oasis will be coming to Aberdare this Friday to take part in a Q&A as part of the screening of new Oasis documentary - Supersonic.

Former Creation Records boss Alan McGee who famously spotted the band at a gig at Glasgow venue King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in 1993 will be talking about life at the eye of the storm as the Gallagher brothers bestrode all before them in the ‘90s becoming one of the biggest bands in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.

The Supersonic documentary, from award-winning director Mat Whitecross, tells the remarkable story of the iconic band – in their own words.

Featuring extensive unseen archive, Supersonic charts the meteoric rise of Oasis from the council estates of Manchester to some of the biggest concerts of all time in just three short years shining a light on one of the most generation-defining British bands that has ever existed.

The filmmakers - who also include Academy Award-winning producers James Gay Rees and Asif Kapadia - the team behind Amy Winehouse documentary AMY - have been given unprecedented access to the band.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have both supported the making of the documentary, and have provided what the directors describe as “a rare and candid insight into their world” along with never before seen archive material from their private collections.

The film will be screened at The Coliseum on Friday, October 14. The evening will also see Alan McGee in conversation with WalesOnline journalist David Owens.

Doors open 6pm, with the event starting at 7pm.

Tickets are available from the Box Office on 08000 147 111 or online here
